Chapter 4: One Message + The Truth

Richard let out a short dismissive sound:

"You're bluffing."

Isabella reached into her handbag and withdrew her phone.

Tapped once.

Sent one message.

Locked the screen.

Lucas crossed his arms:

"What did you just do?"

Isabella tilted her head — a gesture so light, so unhurried, it was almost unnerving.

"Check your accounts."

Helen frowned.

Lucas snatched his phone — annoyed at first, then confused, then pale.

He refreshed the screen.

Again.

Again.

"No…"

His voice cracked into a whisper.

Richard grabbed his own phone. His whiskey glass slipped from his hand and shattered against the Italian marble floor — shards scattering outward like a small declaration of judgment.

"What the hell is this?!"

Sophie's smile vanished completely.

Lucas shot to his feet:

"What did you do?!"

Isabella rose slowly.

Straightened her dress.

And for the first time in three years — she stopped making herself smaller.

She became exactly who she was.

"You spent years bragging about your empire," Isabella said.

She stepped forward — unhurried, without hesitation.

"So let me clarify something."

Her gaze locked on Lucas.

"You never built that empire."

Absolute silence.

She could hear breathing.

Nothing else.

She continued.

"The investors you impressed?"

She smiled.

"They were mine."

The color began draining from Richard's face.

"The emergency capital that saved your company two years ago?"

She paused.

"That was mine too."

Lucas shook his head:

"No… that's impossible."

She almost pitied him.

Almost.

Then she delivered the truth that none of them had ever thought to verify.

"My family bought controlling interest in your company four years ago."

Helen whispered:

"No…"

"Before the wedding." Isabella looked directly into Lucas's eyes — the eyes she had once loved, the eyes she now regarded with the complete calm of a woman freed from illusion. "I wasn't the one who needed saving. I was the one deciding whether you were worth saving."

May you like

She smiled softly.

"And tonight — I've made my decision."
