Chapter 15 - Queen of My Own World

The evening sun cast a golden glow across the grand foyer of my estate as I prepared to host a private dinner party celebrating the one-year anniversary of the new Whitmore Dynamics executive board.

The house was filled with the soft, elegant melodies of classical piano, the rich scent of blooming white orchids, and the genuine laughter of trusted friends, loyal colleagues, and brilliant minds who respected me not for my name, or my inheritance, but for the ironclad resolve with which I had rebuilt my life from the ashes.

I walked down the grand staircase, my hand resting lightly on the polished mahogany banister.

I wore a sweeping, emerald-silk evening gown that shimmered softly under the crystal chandelier light—a deliberate, quiet nod to the color of the dress that had once tried to mock me, now entirely reclaimed and worn on my own terms.

As I reached the bottom of the stairs, Thomas Vance raised a crystal champagne glass toward me with a warm, respectful smile, and the rest of the room turned to follow his lead, raising their glasses in silent, unanimous toast.

I didn't need a man to validate my worth. I didn't need a glittering engagement banner to define my happiness.

I had built an empire, not on sand, but on truth, resilience, and unyielding strength.

I raised my glass in return, a bright, confident, utterly radiant smile touching my lips as I looked out across the room.

I was no longer the woman standing outside glass doors holding twelve red roses and waiting for a lie to be explained.

I was the queen of my own world, and the throne was entirely mine.
