Chapter 4 - The Fall of the House of HarringtonThe high-definition video played across the white wall in terrifying, undeniable detail.

The gallery gasped as the audio echoed off the high stone ceilings:
“I said apologize!” Callan’s recorded voice boomed through the courtroom speakers, followed by the violent, sickening CRACK of his hand crashing across my cheek.
The video clearly displayed Brooklyn's deliberate shoulder-shove that spilled the soup, Melissa's cruel laugh behind her wine glass, and Callan's sleeve catching the handle of the oil pan as he reached out to strike me a second time.
In the front row of the gallery, Melissa Harrington’s face went from pale aristocratic pride to a sickly, translucent grey. The lace handkerchief dropped from her trembling fingers onto the carpet.
Brooklyn let out a sharp, choked shriek, covering her face as two news reporters instantly pointed their high-powered camera lenses directly at her.
Judge Vance leaned over the bench, his dark eyes locking onto the prosecution team with a cold, terrifying stillness.
"Counsel," Judge Vance spoke, his voice dropping into an octave of absolute, unyielding coldness. "Are these the 'unprovoked eyewitness statements' provided by your clients?"
The lead prosecutor stammered, his face flushing red, his hands shuffling frantically through his manila folders. "Your... Your Honor... we were not made aware of this recording... our clients informed us—"
"Your clients committed felony perjury on official police affidavits, Counsel!" Judge Vance thundered, bringing his wooden gavel down flat against the bench.
BANG.
"All charges against Anastasia Harrington are dismissed with prejudice immediately!" Judge Vance declared.
He looked over his reading glasses at the bailiffs standing near the rear doors.
"Bailiffs! Secure Melissa Harrington and Brooklyn Harrington immediately. They are to be held in custody pending formal indictments for felony perjury, filing a false police report, and conspiracy to commit judicial fraud!"
Four broad-shouldered bailiffs marched down the central aisle, their steel handcuffs clicking open with sharp, metallic sounds that echoed through the courtroom like thunder.
Melissa screamed as two bailiffs grabbed her arms, forcing her manicured hands behind her silk dress, while Brooklyn wept hysterically, thrashing against her restraints as news cameras flashed continuously in their faces.
I stood up from the defense table, holding my head high and proud, my posture straight, strong, and unshakeable.
As Melissa was dragged past my table in chains, she looked at me with wild, bloodshot eyes.
"You bitch!" Melissa shrieked, her voice cracking into a pathetic, desperate squeak. "You destroyed my family!"
May you like
I looked into her terrified eyes, my voice calm, quiet, and absolute.
"You destroyed your family the moment you thought a girl from Mesa didn't know how to protect herself, Melissa."
