PART 7: THE FORENSIC TRACK
An hour later, our private financial auditor, Victor Hayes, arrived at the house.
He slammed a thick, black leather folder onto our dining table.
"She’s bluffing about the bankruptcy, Meline," Victor said immediately, adjusting his glasses.
Alejandro leaned over his shoulder, looking at the highlighted spreadsheets. "What did you find, Victor?"
"Look at these transactions," Victor pointed to a hidden offshore account registered in the Cayman Islands.
The line items were massive, totaling over eighty million dollars.
"Doña Victoria didn't just run a legitimate real estate firm," Victor explained, his eyes sharp. "She’s been siphoning corporate assets into a private blind trust named The White Carriage for five years."
I blinked, the name triggering a memory.
The White Carriage.
It was the exact name of the luxury toy chest Paola had placed next to my bed before the incident.
It wasn't just a chest.
It was the code name for their family's illegal hidden wealth.
"If we hand this data to the federal receiver," Victor whispered, "the courts won't just liquidate the company. They will seize Victoria’s private mansion, her jewelry, and every single asset she thinks she’s hiding from the creditors."
I looked at Alejandro.
He didn't look conflicted. He looked resolved.
"My mother built her life on enabling Paola's malice," Alejandro said quietly. "It’s time for the ledger to be balanced."

I looked back at Victor.
"Deliver the files to the prosecutor," I said.
