PART 3: The Truth Behind the Wealth

"What... what is the meaning of this? My cards are declined?! All corporate accounts are locked?!" Patricia shrieked, clutching her chest, her breathing turning shallow and ragged.
Ethan frantically checked his own phone. His expression shifted from sheer disbelief to absolute panic. He looked up at me, his eyes wide with horror, unable to comprehend what was happening.
"Madison... what is going on? Why does your grandmother have the power to freeze the Carter family assets?" Ethan stammered, his voice shaking, stripped entirely of his previous arrogance.
I smiled—a bitter smile for the three years of my youth spent enduring their constant contempt.
"Did you two honestly believe the Carter Group stood on its own feet for the past three years?" I took a step forward, confronting them directly. "Three years ago, when Ethan’s company was on the brink of bankruptcy, it was my grandmother who quietly bought up 70% of your debt through an anonymous investment fund. She did it for me, believing you would treat her granddaughter well."

"Every designer outfit you wear, every pearl necklace you flaunt, and even this very mansion... it has all been funded by the Bennett Investment Fund. You looked down on me as a useless housewife, completely oblivious to the fact that this 'housewife' is the only reason you aren't begging on the streets."
My grandmother’s voice cut through the phone, sharp and unyielding: "Ethan Carter, I gave you a chance. But you and your mother chose greed over gratitude. As of this moment, the Bennett Fund is officially withdrawing all capital and demanding full repayment of all loans within 24 hours."
