Part 2: Begging for Mercy

Diane’s arrogance vanished in a heartbeat. Looking at her locked accounts and then at Cassidy, her hands began to tremble. The woman she had treated like "trash" just moments ago was now standing tall, guarded by the most powerful men in the city.

"Cassidy... my dear daughter-in-law..." Diane stepped forward, her voice shaking, her face completely drained of color. "I... I was just joking. You know I love to joke around, right? Let me get you a towel..."

"Don't touch me," Cassidy said coldly, taking a step back. "What did you say earlier? 'At least you finally took a bath,' wasn't it?"

Brendan dropped to his knees, right among the shards of the broken wine glass. He desperately tried to grab the hem of Cassidy’s coat. "Cassidy, please! I was fooled, it was Jessica who put my mother up to this! I still love you, we're having a baby together! You can't ruin my family like this!"

Hearing this, Jessica turned pale and shrieked, "Brendan, what are you saying? You're the one who said you hated her!"

"Shut up!" Brendan snapped back, slapping Jessica across the face, trying everything to beg for Cassidy's forgiveness.

Cassidy looked down at the man she once loved, now reduced to a pathetic mess groveling at her feet. She felt no joy, only absolute disgust. She gently rubbed her pregnant belly, feeling her little angel calm down.

"Ten minutes ago, you told me to take twenty dollars and disappear," Cassidy said, glancing at her watch. "Right now, you have exactly ten minutes to pack your clothes and get out of this house. After ten minutes, security will throw you onto the street."
