Chapter 10 - Dawn of a New Empire

Six months after the trial concluded, the sun rose over Manhattan, painting the glass towers of the Cross Atlantic Financial Group in brilliant shades of gold and amber.

I stood on the private wrap-around balcony of the executive penthouse overlooking Central Park, holding a now six-month-old baby boy who laughed brightly as the morning breeze ruffled his soft hair. He was strong, healthy, and full of life—a living symbol of everything Victor had tried to destroy, and everything he had failed to conquer.

Adrian stepped out onto the balcony, handing me a freshly printed copy of the Wall Street Journal. The front-page headline carried a bold, striking financial report:

CROSS ATLANTIC ANNOUNCES COMPLETE ACQUISITION OF HALE TECH; ELENA CROSS NAMED MANAGING DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL ASSETS.

"The board officially ratified your appointment this morning," Adrian said with a proud, approving smile. "You didn't just survive the storm, Elena. You conquered the entire board."

I folded the newspaper, resting it on the glass table beside my coffee cup, and looked out over the sprawling empire spread out beneath our feet. The ghosts of the past—the frozen wind in Aspen, the cruel laughter at the edge of the cliff, the betrayal in the chapel—were all gone, buried deep beneath the foundations of a new life built on absolute power and unbreakable strength.

Victor Hale was rotting away in a maximum-security prison cell, forgotten by the society he had tried to cheat. Serena was serving her federal sentence in upstate New York, stripped of every luxury she had ever schemed to steal. And I—the woman they left to die in the snow—was now standing at the very top of the world.

I kissed my son’s forehead, whispering into his soft hair.

"We made it, my sweet boy. No one will ever hurt us again."
