Chapter 14 - The New Horizon

The private airstrip at Dallas Love Field shimmered under the bright Texas sun as a sleek, private twin-engine jet idled on the tarmac, its turbine engines humming with quiet power.

Sofia stood at the base of the boarding stairs, wearing her travel blazer and holding a sleek leather carry-on bag. She wasn't running away this time. She wasn't hiding from anyone, and she wasn't seeking anyone's approval. She was heading to Zurich, Switzerland, to personally oversee the establishment of the European branch of the Vance-Robles Foundation—a massive international charity dedicated to protecting women from financial coercion, domestic abuse, and legal extortion.

Alexander and I stood at the edge of the tarmac, watching her with heavy yet proud hearts.

Sofia walked back over to us, wrapping her arms around her father first in a long, tight embrace.

"Call me the second wheels are up," Alexander commanded gently, kissing the top of her head.

"Always, Dad," Sofia smiled, pulling back and turning to me. She wrapped her arms around my neck, burying her face in my shoulder. "Thank you, Mom. For opening your door that night. For calling Dad. For saving my life."

"You saved your own life, sweetheart," I whispered back, kissing her cheek. "Now go out there and show the world what a Vance can do."

She stepped back, offering us one final, dazzling wave before turning and climbing the stairs of the private jet. The cabin door sealed shut behind her with a secure, satisfying click.

A few moments later, the jet taxied smoothly down the runway, lifting gracefully into the cloudless blue sky, soaring higher and higher until it became a gleaming silver speck against the sun.

Alexander slipped his arm around my waist, pulling me close as we watched the horizon.

"Well, Elena," he said quietly, a soft smile touching his lips. "What's our next adventure?"

I looked up at him, feeling the peaceful, enduring warmth of a storm finally passed and a future wide open.

"Let's go home, Alexander," I said. "Our family is finally safe."

And as the golden afternoon light stretched out across the Dallas plains, the Vance dynasty stood stronger, brighter, and more united than it had ever been before—ready for whatever tomorrow brought, together.
