Chapter 3 :The Dark Past and The Sealed Envelope

Rachel’s sudden appearance felt like a bomb dropping in the courtroom. David instantly turned deathly pale, his entire body trembling as if he were staring at a ghost from his past. Jessica looked utterly bewildered; she had never even heard of David having a first wife.

Judge Whitman sternly signaled the clerk to accept the envelope from Rachel. Rachel stepped up to the witness stand, her eyes locked onto David with absolute contempt.

"Seven years ago, I was also an eight-month pregnant mother, just like her," Rachel said, her voice cracking as she pointed toward me. "David married me for my family's fortune. When he embezzled company funds and I found out, he tried to force me to sign away my property rights. When I refused, he slipped abortion pills into my drink. The baby... did not survive."

A horrified silence fell over the room. I clutched my pregnant belly, tears streaming down my face as I realized I had almost suffered the exact same tragic fate. Rachel continued:

"Inside that envelope are my old medical records, along with proof of David's secret bank transfers to buy that banned substance seven years ago. I stayed silent for too long because he threatened me, but today, I won't let him destroy another mother."
