Chapter 5: The Hand of Justice
Judge Whitman glared at David and Jessica with cold fury. She immediately ordered the divorce and asset trial to be halted, upgrading the case to a high-level criminal investigation.
"Based on the undeniable evidence and testimonies from Lily Caldwell, Rachel Monroe, and the physical evidence recovered from the scene, this court orders the immediate arrest of David Caldwell and Jessica Miller on charges of attempted murder, intentional harm to a pregnant woman, and child abuse."
The officers stepped forward, the cold metallic sound of handcuffs echoing through the room as they locked around David's and Jessica's wrists. David turned back to look at me, his eyes filled with desperation and pleading, but I stared straight ahead, offering him no pity. Justice might have been delayed, but it had finally arrived.
