That very Christmas night, Nathan rushed his daughters to the city's top private hospital. When the doctor revealed that the quadruplets were severely malnourished, suffered stomach damage from eating spoiled food, and showed signs of severe psychological trauma, Nathan’s hands shook uncontrollably. There were also faint bruises on their skin—undeniable proof of the abuse they endured while he was away.
The next morning, while Vanessa was still high on alcohol, sleeping in at the mansion, a team of police officers and lawyers stormed in.
Vanessa was handcuffed right in her bed under the charges of severe child endangerment and domestic abuse.
"What do you think you're doing? I am Mrs. Caldwell! Nathan, have you lost your mind?!" Vanessa shrieked as she was escorted to the police cruiser in front of whispering neighbors and a crowd of reporters Nathan had subtly summoned.
Vanessa’s father—a massive real estate tycoon—immediately called Nathan, his voice dripping with threats: "Nathan, drop the charges against my daughter, or I will ruin your career! My entire 500-million-dollar investment will be pulled by the end of today!"
Nathan calmly took a sip of his coffee, looking through the hospital glass window where his four girls were happily eating warm bowls of soup. He replied softly:
"You're threatening me with your capital? You haven't checked the news this morning, have you?"

Stock prices for Vanessa’s father’s company plummeted, losing 70% of their value in just a few hours. Banks immediately froze their family accounts to liquidate assets.
The family was bankrupt before they could withdraw a single cent to save their daughter.
