Chapter 8: Justice for Martha

Months later, Bianca was sentenced for attempted murder, fraud, and abuse.

Her entire empire collapsed.

The people who once admired her turned away.

The mansion changed too.

Julian removed every reminder of Bianca.

But he kept one thing.

The old purple nightgown Martha wore that night.

Not because of the pain.

Because it reminded him of the moment he almost lost the woman who raised him.

One evening, Martha sat beside the pool.

The same pool where Bianca tried to hurt her.

Julian joined her.

“You’re sure you’re okay being here?”

Martha smiled.

“I’m not afraid anymore.”

Julian smiled.

“Good.”

She looked at the water.

“Your father once told me family was about blood.”

She held Julian’s hand.

“He was wrong.”

Julian nodded.

“Family is about who stays.”

Then Martha noticed something.

A small envelope sitting on the table.

“Julian?”

He opened it.

Inside was a letter.

May you like

From his biological father.

And the first sentence changed everything.
