Ten years after returning, Margaret bought a small house in Maine.
That surprised everyone.
“Why there?”
She smiled.
“I’m tired of letting one terrible night own an entire coastline.”
She learned sailing again.
At sixty-eight.
Caleb hated it.
I understood.
Margaret didn’t ask permission.
Her first boat was small.
She named it SECOND CHANCE.
Too obvious.
We told her.
She didn’t care.
Samuel Price attended the launch.
The man who saved her life fourteen years before anyone knew she was alive.
Margaret hugged him.
“You gave me fourteen extra years.”
Samuel shook his head.
“No. I pulled you from water. You did the years.”
