Victor stepped forward and tapped his tablet, projecting high-definition surveillance feeds and financial ledgers onto the drop-down theater screen behind us.

"Three months ago, Julian Sterling and Chloe Davies established an offshore shell company called Horizon Global Partners," Victor recited with clinical precision. "They funneled four point two million dollars stolen from the Sterling Maritime employee pension fund directly into private accounts in the Cayman Islands."

Chloe gasped, staggering backward. "How... how did you find that?!"

"My father owns the bank in George Town that processed your wire," I replied coolly. "Did you really think a mid-level marketing assistant and a bankrupt playboy could outsmart the Vance forensic accounting department?"

Detective Miller stepped forward, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his utility belt.

"Chloe Davies, you are under arrest for grand larceny, conspiracy to commit fraud, and corporate embezzlement," Detective Miller said, grabbing Chloe’s arm and twisting it behind her back.

"Julian, do something!" Chloe screamed, thrashing wildly against the handcuffs. "You promised me we were going to Europe! You said she was an orphan nobody cared about!"

Julian didn't look at her. His eyes were wild, darting toward the open terrace doors. In a split second of suicidal desperation, his hand dove into his jacket pocket.

He pulled the unregistered revolver, aiming it directly at my chest.

"Nobody moves!" Julian screamed, his voice breaking into a manic frenzy. "Sign the trust release, Clara! Sign it right now, or I blow your head off! I have nothing left to lose!"
