Chapter 5 - The Corporate Execution

By 10:00 AM, the glass-walled boardroom on the top floor of the Vance Tower was buzzing with anxious energy. The emergency board meeting had been called by Julian Vance himself, though the patriarch sat at the head of the long mahogany table looking twenty years older, his hands trembling slightly as he reviewed a series of catastrophic financial reports spread out before him.
Julian Jr. paced nervously behind his father, his face pale. “Dad, this has to be a coordinated cyberattack. How is it possible that our primary offshore accounts in Zurich have been locked simultaneously? The bank says a master encryption override was executed using a classified sovereign security key!”
Before Julian could answer, the heavy oak doors of the boardroom swung open with a loud bang.
All twenty executives at the table turned sharply. Walking down the center aisle wasn't a police officer or a federal agent. It was Arthur Sterling. He wore a crisp, dark charcoal suit that fit his broad shoulders with terrifying precision, a silver tie, and polished oxblood shoes that clicked sharply against the marble floor. The quiet, ordinary baker from 4th Street was entirely gone; in his place stood an apex predator.
“Guards! Security! Get this lunatic out of here!” Julian Jr. shrieked, pointing a shaking finger at him.
Four armed private security guards rushed into the room from the side corridors, raising their tasers and batons. “Stay right where you are, mister! Hands behind your head!”
Arthur didn't even break stride. As the first guard lunged forward with a baton, Arthur ducked under the swing with fluid, effortless grace, grabbed the guard’s tactical vest, and threw him bodily across the mahogany conference table, shattering crystal water pitchers and scattering financial portfolios everywhere.
The remaining three guards charged together. In less than ten seconds, Arthur dismantled them using razor-sharp pressure-point strikes and aikido throws, leaving them groaning on the floor. He stepped over an unconscious guard, calmly adjusted his cuffs, and pulled out a sleek black leather folder, tossing it onto the center of the table right in front of the lead board director.
“Good morning, gentlemen,” Arthur said, his voice smooth and freezing cold. “I suggest you open that folder before your stock price hits absolute zero.”
The lead director, a veteran Wall Street shark named Harrison Croft, trembling slightly, opened the folder. Inside were certified bank statements, audio transcripts of bribery meetings, environmental violation cover-ups, and concrete proof of tax evasion totaling over four hundred million dollars—all tied directly to the Vance family.
“This… this is federal-level evidence,” Croft whispered, looking up at Arthur in absolute horror. “Who… who are you?”
“I am the man who gave your company its empire twenty years ago,” Arthur said, resting his palms on the table and leaning forward, locking eyes with every terrified executive in the room. “And I am the man who is taking it back today. You have exactly one hour to vote Julian Vance and his incompetent son off the board of directors, forfeit all fraudulent land titles—including my daughter’s ancestral estate—and issue a public apology admitting to corporate fraud. If you don't… by noon, every single one of you will be sharing a jail cell in federal prison.”
Julian Vance leaped to his feet, veins bulging in his neck. “You arrogant piece of trash! You think a few fabricated documents can destroy us? I’ll spend every last dime I have to hunt you and your daughter down and—!”
BEEP.
Julian Jr.’s phone suddenly rang. With trembling fingers, he pulled it out and answered.

“Sir! Sir, you need to look at the stock market right now!” a frantic voice screamed from the speaker. “An anonymous data dump just hit every major financial network! Our stock has plummeted 65% in the last ten minutes! The SEC has frozen all corporate assets, and the board’s emergency accounts have just been zeroed out!”
Julian Jr. dropped the phone. It clattered against the floor, the screen cracking into spiderwebs. He stared at Arthur with eyes devoid of all hope, realizing too late the catastrophic magnitude of the monster his family had awakened.
