Chapter 9 - The Mastermind in the Shadows

While Alexander prepared his vengeance, a darker plot was unfolding on the other side of the city.
Inside a sprawling, wood-paneled study in an uptown mansion, Richard Sterling—Alexander’s ambitious, calculating uncle—paced back and forth across the Persian rug. He held a glass of scotch in his hand, his eyes narrowed as he watched a live news feed of Vanessa smiling radiantly at the Plaza Hotel gala.
"The fool found out," Richard muttered to himself, his voice dripping with venom. "That incompetent doctor must have slipped up. If Alexander realizes the girl is his true heir, my forty percent stake in the conglomerate—everything I’ve spent six years positioning myself to inherit—will vanish overnight."

Richard walked over to his mahogany desk, picking up a secure satellite phone. He dialed a private number connected to his personal mercenary faction.
"The plan has changed," Richard ordered coldly into the receiver. "Alexander is distracted. Go to the penthouse. Secure the child and the mother. If Alexander interferes... eliminate them all. Tonight."
