Chapter 10 - Mave Found the Missing Thirty Thousand

Weeks before the wedding, Mave was reviewing old company archives when she found something strange.
The original thirty-thousand-dollar transfer.
The discrepancy that started everything.
It had been reversed.
Then transferred again.
Then hidden.
She traced it.
Not to Salvatore.
Not Daniel.
To a scholarship foundation.
She frowned.
The foundation funded children of dockworkers killed or injured on the job.
Vincent’s mother had created it secretly.
After her death, Enzo shut it down.
Years later, someone restarted payments.
Thirty thousand at a time.
Mave checked authorization.
Dominic Vale.
She sat back.
Dominic had not originally been stealing.
He had been secretly restoring Vincent’s mother’s charity.
Salvatore discovered the transfers and used the same pipeline to build his shadow organization.
The yellow discrepancy that almost got Mave killed had begun as something good.
She told Vincent.
He stared at the records for a long time.
“My mother.”
“Yes.”
“She wanted this?”
“Yes.”
Vincent looked away.
Then said:
“Restore it.”
“The foundation?”
“Yes.”
“With clean money.”
Mave smiled.
“Obviously.”
They renamed it:

The Isabella Costa Foundation.
For the first time, Vincent inherited something from his family worth keeping.
