The ceremony was smaller than expected.

Daniel stayed near the back.
When Alejandro finished his speech, Elena approached him.
“What are you going to do now?”
He looked confused.
“I hadn't thought about it.”
She laughed.
“You planned military operations thirty years ahead but forgot retirement?”
“Apparently.”
He eventually founded a nonprofit helping veterans and military families affected by covert-service trauma.
Sofia joined him.
Marcus occasionally helped.
Even Samuel provided testimony that recovered millions in stolen funds.
Life didn't become simple.
