Sofia Reyes finally received a new military record.
Not dead.
Not missing.
Alive.
Her mother attended the ceremony.
When Sofia walked into the room, the older woman collapsed into her daughter's arms.
Alejandro had to turn away.
He remembered giving that woman a folded flag.
Now he watched her hold her daughter.

Daniel completed his cooperation agreement.

“Don't.”
He laughed.
“I'm not proposing.”
“Good.”
“I learned my lesson.”
He handed her a small envelope.
Inside was the finalized divorce paperwork.
Elena stared at him.
Daniel said:
“If we ever choose each other again, I want it to be without the marriage that began with a lie.”
Elena began crying.
Then she hugged him.
