Chapter 14 - THE ARREST ON THE JETTY

At 8:30 AM on Friday morning, the luxury yacht club of Puerto Banús was alive with wealthy tourists, yacht captains, and high-society patrons enjoying morning coffee under white canvas umbrellas.
Mateo de la Vega sat at an outdoor VIP table overlooking his private seventy-foot motor yacht, dressed in a designer blazer, reviewing legal defense drafts with two criminal defense attorneys.
"The injunction against Vance will be filed by noon," Mateo was saying, sipping a cappuccino with confidence. "Once the court freezes his docking access, he will be forced to negotiate—"
SCREECH.
Four unmarked black tactical vans from the Guardia Civil - Unidad Central Operativa (UCO) tore through the yacht club gates, blocking the marina exit with military precision.
Eight armed tactical officers in tactical vests and blue berets swept across the terrace, automatic carbines held at low-ready.
"Mateo de la Vega! Guardia Civil! Do not move! Hands on the table!" Captain Rafael Mendez commanded through a megaphone.
Mateo sprang to his feet, knocking his crystal coffee cup onto the tiled terrace, sending warm espresso spilling across his legal briefs.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Mateo roared, backing toward his yacht’s boarding plank. "I am a prominent corporate director in Valencia! You have zero legal authority to disrupt a private breakfast!"
Captain Mendez stepped forward, unhooking heavy steel transport handcuffs from his tactical belt.
"Mateo de la Vega," Captain Mendez announced with thunderous authority. "Under warrants issued forty minutes ago by the National High Court in Madrid, you are under arrest for international money laundering, criminal conspiracy, witness bribery, and fraudulent misappropriation of municipal maritime funds."
Two officers grabbed Mateo’s arms, forcing them roughly behind his back.
Click. Click.
The sharp metallic ratchets locking around Mateo’s wrists echoed across the silent marina terrace like an executioner’s gavel.
"This is Vance!" Mateo shrieked, thrashing violently as his four-thousand-euro blazer was pulled at the collar. "Alejandro Vance is using his wealth to destroy my family!"
Captain Mendez leaned down until his eyes were inches from Mateo’s sweating face.

"Mr. Vance didn't destroy your family, Mateo," Captain Mendez replied coldly. "Your own greed did. You tried to protect a child abuser, and you laundered stolen blood money through our ports. You will face twenty years in a maximum-security prison."
As the officers hauled the disgraced shipping mogul across the promenade in full view of fifty tourists and flashing smartphone cameras, the final chapter of the De la Vega dynasty crumbled into total, irrecoverable ruin.
