Chapter 19 - THE RETURN TO DUBAI

In October, twelve months after the legal trials concluded, Isabella, Sofia, and I flew to Dubai on the corporate Gulfstream for the grand opening of the Vance Palm Jumeirah Sky Tower.
The city of gold rose from the Persian Gulf in towering spires of glass and steel, bathed in the radiant, violet twilight of the desert.
Inside the grand seventy-story glass atrium of the new skyscraper, five hundred international architects, sovereign wealth directors, and corporate partners gathered for the ribbon-cutting gala.
Isabella stood beside me on the illuminated presentation stage, wearing an exquisite emerald silk dress, her head held high, smiling warmly as she pressed the ceremonial button that lit up the entire seventy-story tower in brilliant sapphire and gold lights.
The business leaders who had once wondered if the domestic crisis in Spain would destabilize my corporate empire stood in absolute, respectful awe.
They saw that Alejandro Vance had not merely survived the storm; he had transformed his pain into an impenetrable fortress of strength, integrity, and international leadership.
During the private reception on the rooftop sky deck, overlooking the sparkling lights of the Dubai Marina, Isabella walked over to the glass balustrade, looking out at the warm desert breeze.
"Daddy?" she asked softly, turning her hazel eyes toward me.
"Yes, my sweet girl?" I smiled, kneeling beside her.
"Do you remember when you were away in Dubai last year, and I thought you wouldn't come back in time?"
My chest tightened with a tender, sacred ache. I reached out, gently tucking a dark curl behind her ear.
"I remember, Isabella," I whispered. "And what did I tell you?"
Isabella smiled—a radiant, unshakeable smile that chased away every remaining shadow of the past.
May you like
"You told me that no matter how far away you are, you will always cross the world to bring me home."
"Always, sweetheart," I promised, kissing her forehead. "Every single time."
