Privately ambitious.
Dominic had criticized Victor for years.

The photograph showed Dominic handing Serena a secure key.

Victor stared.

Marco searched logs.

Dominic meeting Anthony.
Then Mrs. Vale.
The network was bigger.
Why had Serena not exposed Dominic?
Because he had kept distance.

“What does he gain?”
Victor answered:

He denied everything.

Then Isabella remembered Dominic visiting the clinic once.
He stood outside her room.
Did not enter.
Serena told her Victor sent him.

Dominic planned to remove Victor after the wedding.
Serena controlled Ethan.

They each thought they were using the others.

Lily felt cold.

Public sympathy risk.
Recommended resolution:
Financial settlement or reputational discredit.
Then a draft police complaint accusing Lily of stealing Ethan’s medication.
Another staged theft.

Then Dominic’s assistant cooperated.
Dominic knew Serena hurt Ethan.
Not the fracture.

He said:
“Let it continue. Victor needs to see chaos.”
A baby’s pain as corporate leverage.
That was enough.
Dominic was charged with conspiracy and related crimes.

Then Victor looked at Marco.
“How many more?”
Marco answered honestly.
“We don’t know.”
That was the real cost.
An empire built through fear cannot distinguish loyalty from waiting betrayal.
Then Victor decided.

Outside compliance.
No family succession authority.
No household security under corporate command.
His advisers objected.
He continued.
Then he transferred Ethan’s trust oversight to independent fiduciaries.
Isabella co-approved.
No Victor control.
No Isabella unilateral control.
No Blackwood uncle.
Professionals.
Then Victor told Lily:
“I’m going to plead guilty.”
She stared.
“To what?”
“Bribery.”
“Obstruction.”
“Illegal surveillance.”
“Not Serena’s crimes.”
“My own.”
Lily looked at Ethan playing on the carpet.
Then:
“How long?”
“I don’t know.”
She wanted to be angry.
Instead:
“Tell him before you go.”
Victor nodded.
Even if Ethan was too young to understand.
No more disappearing adults.
Then Victor asked Lily one thing.
“Will you stay with him?”
She looked at Isabella.
Isabella said:
“Only if she wants.”

“For now.”
