The evening breeze was warm and fragrant on the rooftop terrace of the Grand Harbor Hotel, where a celebratory gala was underway.
The event was held in honor of the annual Justice for Survivors Initiative, and Audrey was the keynote speaker of the night.
When Audrey stepped up to the podium wearing an elegant emerald-green silk dress—a bold, triumphant reclaim of the color Julian had once used to shame her—the crowd stood up, breaking into thunderous applause.
Looking out into the audience, Audrey saw her loving father smiling proudly, her legal team cheering, and dozens of women her firm had helped over the past year standing tall and thriving.
She adjusted the microphone and looked out over the crowd with calm, radiant grace.
"For a long time," Audrey began, her voice steady, powerful, and beautiful, "I thought my silence was the price I had to pay to keep peace. I thought if I just endured enough, if I was patient enough, things would fix themselves."
She paused, looking out at the city lights gleaming in the distance.

The crowd was dead silent, hanging onto every single word.

Audrey raised her glass high toward the starlit sky.
