Chapter 19 - The Vows on Oyster Bay

On a golden afternoon in early June, the private cliffside gardens of the Varrick Coastal Estate in Oyster Bay were filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming white beach roses, fresh honeysuckle, and ocean spray.
It was a private, sacred celebration attended only by their true family: Margaret Donnelly, Marcus Brody, Ray Brody and his family, the pediatric doctors who had cared for Lily, and their closest lifelong friends.
The sunlight streamed through the ancient weeping willows, casting golden patterns across the white stone aisle leading to a floral arch overlooking Long Island Sound.
Gabriel stood at the altar in a bespoke black tuxedo, his eyes locked onto the rear garden gates.
The string quartet began to play the gentle, soaring melody of the Cork lullaby.
Down the stone aisle walked five-year-old Lily, wearing an exquisite white lace dress with a crown of woven wildflowers in her hair, proudly carrying the velvet pillow bearing their wedding rings.
Behind her walked Claire.
She was breathtaking. She wore an off-the-shoulder gown of pure ivory French silk that flowed around her like liquid water, her dark hair swept up in an elegant chignon, her face glowing with timeless beauty, grace, and unyielding devotion.
When she reached the altar steps, Gabriel stepped down to take her trembling hand into his large, warm palm.
The minister raised his hands in benediction.
"Gabriel and Claire," the minister spoke softly. "You have walked through the deepest shadows of grief and betrayal. You have proven that love is an unbreakable fortress that no darkness can ever tear down."
Gabriel looked straight into Claire’s hazel eyes, his deep baritone vibrating with raw, profound emotion.
"Claire," Gabriel said, his voice steady as forged iron. "When my world was dark and cold, you brought the song that saved my daughter’s life. You gave me your courage, your dignity, and your heart. I swear to you, before God and our family, that every breath in my body belongs to your protection, your joy, and your peace."
Tears of pure, radiant happiness slipped down Claire’s cheeks as she smiled up at him.
"Gabriel," Claire whispered. "You tore down walls of lies to give my family our honor back. You gave my broken heart a home, and you gave me our daughter. My life is yours, today, tomorrow, and across all eternity."
Gabriel slid a platinum band encrusted with three flawless emerald-cut diamonds onto her finger, and Claire placed the heavy gold signet ring onto his.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife," the minister smiled.

Gabriel pulled Claire into his arms, dipping her slightly as his lips met hers in a deep, passionate, sacred kiss that sealed their past, their present, and their eternal future under the open sky.
Lily clapped her hands with untamed joy, throwing handfuls of white rose petals into the air as Barnaby barked happily from the front row.
