Chapter 10 - The Gala of a Lifetime

Six weeks after the night that changed New York forever, the Moretti estate hosted another grand celebration.

The newspapers called it the wedding of the century.

The same crystal chandeliers that had once witnessed Valentina’s cruel betare now bathed in warm, golden light. White roses climbed the marble columns, smelling sweet against the evening breeze. But this time, there was no fear in the air. No hidden poison in the crystal flutes. No predatory elites waiting for someone to trip.

Three hundred guests filled the grand ballroom—not corrupt politicians and underworld capos, but judges, international diplomats, and trusted allies who respected the true strength of the new Moretti dynasty.

At the center of the ballroom, the twelve-piece orchestra played a soft, joyful waltz.

Sophia stood breathtaking in a hand-stitched ivory silk gown, her hair cascading in soft waves over her shoulders, her eyes shining with unspeakable happiness.

And standing right beside her, wearing a miniature replica of her mother’s wedding dress, was Emma.

The little girl didn't have worn shoes with broken lights anymore. Her tiny silver slippers sparkled under the chandeliers, and her stuffed rabbit sat proudly on a velvet chair by the edge of the floor, wearing a matching white ribbon.

Aleandro Moretti stepped forward, wearing a classic tuxedo that fit with military precision. He didn't look like the cold, unapproachable mafia don anymore. As he looked down at Sophia and then at Emma, his dark eyes were filled with a fierce, unconditional devotion that words could never capture.

He extended his hand toward Sophia. "May I have this dance?"

Sophia smiled, placing her hand in his. "Only if you can keep up."

As they stepped onto the marble floor, Aleandro scooped Emma up into his arms, spinning her once in the air before setting her gently down between them.

The music swelled.

Emma didn't dance out of fear, or for a million-dollar bet, or to prove anything to a cruel world. She danced because she was loved. She danced because her mother’s hands were no longer trembling, and her father’s eyes were finally home.

And as the three of them spun beneath the glittering chandeliers, every single guest in the room raised their glasses—not in mockery, but in quiet, heartfelt reverence for a family forged in fire, sealed in truth, and crowned by an unbreakable, barefoot victory.
