Chapter 15 - The Queen of the New York Skyline

Two months later, the penthouse suite of the Moretti Tower glowed beneath a brilliant autumn sunset that painted the Manhattan skyline in shades of molten gold, violet, and deep crimson.

Down below, the city hummed with the endless, vibrant energy of millions of lives moving across streets, bridges, and shipping ports that now belonged entirely to the unified Moretti-Romano dynasty.

There were no guards with drawn weapons in the hallways. No hidden threats waiting in the shadows. No cruel socialites or corrupt tycoons looking down from high pedestals.

In the center of the expansive marble living room, a twelve-piece orchestra played a gentle, flowing waltz—not for an elite gala, but just for an ordinary Tuesday evening.

Sophia wore a simple, elegant ivory silk dress, her hair flowing freely over her shoulders. She stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a glass of sparkling cider as she watched the city lights flicker to life one by one.

Beside her, dancing barefoot across the imported Italian marble, was Emma.

The little girl didn't have worn shoes with broken lights anymore. Her tiny silver slippers sparkled under the ceiling lights, and her faithful stuffed rabbit sat proudly on a velvet armchair, watching every graceful spin with its button eyes.

Aleandro stepped up behind Sophia, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin comfortably on her shoulder. He wore an open-collared black shirt, looking more relaxed and content than he had ever been in his entire life.

“You know,” Aleandro murmured softly into her ear, “that was quite a performance you gave in Geneva.”

Sophia tilted her head back against his chest, smiling. “I learned from the best master strategist in New York.”

“Is that so?” Aleandro chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. “I seem to remember a certain housemaid who spent two years outsmarting my entire security detail while scrubbing my floors.”

“I was just keeping busy,” Sophia teased, turning around in his embrace to wrap her arms around his neck.

Emma spun toward them, giggling as her little cotton dress flared out around her knees. She stopped right in front of them, holding out her hands with a bright, infectious smile.

“Mommy, Daddy, come dance!”

Aleandro didn’t hesitate. He scooped Emma up into his arms, spinning her once in the air before setting her gently down between them, taking one of her small hands while Sophia took the other.

The music swelled, filling the penthouse with warmth, laughter, and an absolute, unshakable peace.

They danced together—not for money, not for power, and not to prove anything to a cruel world. They danced because the storm had finally passed, because the truth had set them free, and because a barefoot victory had brought a king, a queen, and their little girl home to stay.
